Pine Tree Tops - Gary Snyder
"Pine Tree Tops"
in the blue night
frost haze, the sky glows
with the moon
pine tree tops
bend snow-blue, fade
into sky, frost, starlight.
the creak of boots
rabbit tracks, deer tracks,
what do we know.

Poem is a fine moment of solitary reflection. A penetration that has honest and ordinary clarity. Though to get there is a long way down the diurnal roads of one human life. A deep sophistication that can be articulated by a simplicity which reshapes us: what do we know.
