Sustain-A-Ball 2010

Awesome event coming up for people to check out in Allentown. I will most certainly be there and I hope anyone who reads Remember regularly would consider attending.

The following information is copied from the EAC's Sustain-A-Ball homepage which you can reach by clicking here.

You can buy tickets on that site. Do it.

ALLENTOWN EAC
ENVIRONMENTAL ADVISORY COUNCIL
SUSTAIN-a-BALL

"Celebrating Efforts to Protect the Lehigh Valley‘s Natural Resources"
The Allentown Environmental Advisory Council (EAC) invites you to its first Sustain-a-Ball,
Saturday, April 10 at the Allentown Brew Works from 6pm to 9 PM.

The Sustain-a-Ball is both a fundraiser and a celebration of past and present Lehigh Valley initiatives to protect and sustain Allentown’s natural resources. The evening will feature live music, dancing and the Brew Work’s wonderful hors d'oeuvres and dessert. Attire is dressy casual to fun formal.

The event will begin in the spirit of renewal with a solo dance, (re)birth, choreographed by Allentown-based choreographer Sarah Carlson and performed by Christine Michener to an original guitar score by Michael London. The dance literally blossoms from the ground up.

A brief program and slide show will highlight many of Allentown's green initiatives
CACLV Executive Director, Alan Jennings will MC the event, followed by dancing to Tavern Tan.

Proceeds from the Sustain-a-Ball will be used by the EAC in their efforts to protect the
City of Allentown’s environmental resources.
Tickets to the Sustain-a-Ball are $25 per person. Students $15.00."

sorry to say, but the EAC is a completely compromised group, which has remained silent about the damage at cedar creek and wasn't even in the loop about south mountain. it was created by pawlowski for cover, not input. it is led by a long time sycophant of the local democratic party, and his stacked with his significant other. both of them have a long history with alan jennings. i speculate that the two vacancies occurred on principle.

here is another thing to consider; pawlowski asked the DEP NOT to interfere or give oversight to the new wells being dug at the head water of the little lehigh, which provides our drinking water. again, not a peep from the EAC, can you state one thing they have inserted themselves about? btw, i was asked by one of their members to please refrain from criticizing any park plans without first clearing it with him, because he's an expert. the "expert" may work with global issues, but here in allentown, just silence and smiles. are you being considered for one of the two vacancies?

Not that I am aware of Mike.

I think the EAC is a good organization and I think that the future will demonstrate to that. A member of the EAC was the only person to speak of the environmental consequences of the trail plan at the city council meeting regarding it. Not everyone can do what you want them to do at all times, and while I would like to see alot of stuff done and said by local organizations of all ilks, at the moment, I take what I can get, and I think the EAC will prove its worth even more, down the line.

Besides, the event which I am advertising on here today is meant to spotlight green initiatives in the city of Allentown. The EAC was commissioned to serve as council to the city on that very issue.

I'm glad progress is being made somewhere in this city. There is only so much arguing and posturing that can be done.

andrew, you write; "There is only so much arguing and posturing that can be done."

you can say i posture. pawlowski said i'm a naysayer. weitzel said that i'm a misinformer.

yesterday you wrote that you have egg on your face. cedar park of my youth and my children's youth is gone. your child will not be able to enjoy the open space there, it will be gone within two more months of bulldozing and paving. the EAC said nothing. alan jennings received over $2million dollars to implement green programs, but said nothing about what's going on in the parks. i'm glad you see progress, i see scars and enablers.

EAC, huh. Are they politically compromised and acting with an emphatic political bias; or are they actually about supporting the natural world? I never heard of them.
