Picnic In The Park: August 30th at Noon

I have mentioned in some posts about our next meet up which will take place one week from today at Cedar Beach Park. The intention is for everyone to bring a blanket or something to sit on as well as something to eat and we will all have a picnic together in the grassy area behind the Parks and Recreation Office Building.

Besides enjoying a day in a beautiful park this event is meant to continue a meaningful dialogue regarding the construction projects that are taking place in that park.  I hope to see a turn out like the one that occurred at City Council Chambers.

If you have any questions, feel free to email me or leave a comment.

I will have another post towards the end of the week to serve as another reminder and as a chance to relay any other information that changes in the coming days.

I am looking forward  to seeing a lot of you readers out there.

apparently if you want to see that big of a turnout will have to summon a couple of pastors and tell them the opponents are motivated by racism.

on another subject, off topic, as a neighbor of 19th st. can you possibly explain why that street is being repaved again, just a couple years after being repaved? i can only assume it is to use up some grant money given for 19th st. it's really a shame, because after the second layer the street will almost be curb height, resulting in poor storm runoff.

actually, maybe i'm not so off topic as i thought. a large grant resulting in unnecessary projects which will result in storm runoff problems, that does sound like many components of the cedar park project.

I was actually wondering how many times they were going to repave it. I hope to see the street tower above the sidewalk eventually. They have been doing work on it for two weeks now and have had most of it shut down for the duration. I feel bad for the businesses around here.

The work actually started with UGI digging through the street and then the city doing the same thing so everything was uneven which is why they are repaving.

Also, you're in rare form this morning Micheal. Humidity getting to you?

thanks for the info about ugi, glad to hear that there is at least a reason for the resurfacing. yes, it's a double whammy for the merchants, who might as well take vocation during fair week (some do) because there is no parking available for regular customers. i like humidity

To be fair and frank, fair week sucks for everyone who lives around here.

I'm a winter guy myself, this humidity kills.
