CCP Construction Update 11: Alot of Stuff Going On!

First, the trenches for the continuation of the pathway in the Old Fashion Garden through the Rose Garden have started to be dug out:

Second, the stone pillars in the Rose garden are starting to look beautiful. Giuseppe is doing a great job.

Third, I ran into Giuseppe in the Old Fashion Garden where he was scoping out the stairs. He informed me that he will be fixing them up once his pillars are complete.
I will be looking forward to seeing his work.

Lastly, some aquatic lilies and other plants have been placed in the ponds:

Things are happening quick down there. I'll keep on it.

the entire ambience of the old fashion garden has changed, not for the better. the paths are too wide, the width of the stairs. they should have fanned out at the steps and narrowed otherwise. the visual experience is now dominated by the walkways. too bad there wasn't local input, even the out of town landscaper designer wasn't familiar with the garden.

MM, I think it is too early to draw that conclusion with regard to the ambiance. First, the work isn't finished. Second, we have no idea how things will look next year because they may add more flowerbeds, change plant type etc..

IMO, I think you are jumping at a conclusion here that can't really be drawn until next year.

yes, i agree that it can be dressed up, and it must be if those massive criss crossing paths are not to be the focus. they are above garden grade by about 6 inches, which also makes them more prominent. btw, yesterday they relaid the entire east/west walk, moving it over about 8 inches. i don't know the details, but if it didn't meet city specs, it would have been better for the city to speak up sooner. in my opinion both the pavers and stone columns are being properly constructed, my issues lie with the design and city oversight. andrew, besides backfilling the raised pathways, i certainly hope the work is pretty much finished in the old fashion garden.
